The TJF Optik mini-superfamily draws inspiration from routine visits to the doctor's office for biannual checkups. You know, those moments when you have to read out the letters on the chart with one eye closed. TJF Optik is influenced by charts with slab-serif letters designed by Herman Snellen, while TJF Optik Sans is inspired by charts with grotesque letters created by Doctor Louise Sloan. The letter "E" in Optik Sans is derived from the spinning E charts, and so on. All the letters in both fonts were crafted on a 20x20 grid, although most letters adhere to a 5x5 framework. Each letter occupies a square, but with Stylistic Set 1, proportional alternatives are available, transforming the font from monospace to Triospace. Optik Sans also offers this feature, albeit without the wider variants, resulting in a duospaced appearance.
